Michael McQuaid Releases “Sleepwalking” Music Video

Hailing from the music capitol of the world, Michael McQuaid is a force to be reckoned with. At 20 years old, this Nashville musician mixes pop with a bit of rock to bring his songwriting to the next level. McQuaid has announced his debut EP, Heart&Soul, will be released on August 26th. And today, Surviving The Golden Age has premiered the exclusive music video for the lead track “Sleepwalking.” Fans can check out the music video here.

From the sound of his first single “Sleepwalking” one would think he’s been releasing music for a decade. McQuaid explains the song to be quite naturally romantic, “‘Sleepwalking’ is more of story about missing the hell out of someone and wishing they were by your side to help you fall asleep. “Without you next to me it’s like I’m having bad dreams.”  We all crave someone to hold onto while we sleep… Even when we’re little kids we have our teddy bears to cuddle up to. As we get older, that teddy bear just turns into a real person.”

Heart&Soul was recorded and produced by Ethan Kauffman at The Elephant in the Room in Hollywood, CA and pays homage to the classic artists McQuaid grew up listening to. The EP includes a collection of songs that range from powerful pop ballads perfectly suited for Top 40 radio, to more soulful songs that would be just as at home in an old vinyl collection.

NYC’s new pop sensation, 14-year-old Jordan JAE, has been attracting attention with the recent release of her debut single “Said No One Ever”. The upbeat, empowering track was co-written and produced by Grammy nominated duo Kinetics & One Love (Eminem, B.o.B, Pitbull, Sean Kingston, Melanie Martinez). Jordan JAE partnered up with Queens-based alternative hip-hop band Oxymorrons and DJ/production team After Them for a special dance remix of the track, Jordan JAE explaining, “I thought it would be really cool to hear other peoples take on ‘Said No One Ever’. To hear it in a completely new light and redone in someone else’s vision is really interesting and amazing.”

DJ Mr. Hernandez of Oxymorrons and After Them adding, “It was so much fun creating this remix because of that piercing hook ‘said no one ever’. After Them being the future of production with genre blending style of the Oxymorrons, helped us create a battle of the beats between trap, b-more, dance, R&B, hip hop, and reggae. We feel we did a great job fusing all of these genres together.”

Music Videos May Start Being Rated

Miley Cyrus, "Wrecking Ball"With nudity becoming more and more prevalent in music videos these days along with twerking, some are now forcing ratings on these music videos. The intent is to keep small children from viewing  the sexual content of these videos.

France already has pushed Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears’ videos to late night. Now the British Board of Film Classification has announced plans to tack on ratings to these music videos. This comes after parents voiced their outrage about the overt sexuality of music videos like Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball.

“Google has said that if we start to age-rate videos, they will carry the BBFC age rating,” says David Austin, the BBFC’s assistant director. “They’ve also said they will look at the possibility of parental controls in relation to age rating.”

There is no word if the United States or Canada will impose any ratings on music videos although the USA does impose ratings for music albums. We feel that it may be only a matter of time before the US begins doing this if other countries are doing it.

What are your thoughts about nudity in music videos and placing ratings on them?
