When the weekend comes it usually means different things to different people — a trip to the beach, shopping, quality time with the family, or doing work around the house. One thing that remains a constant, new movies are being released and moviegoers flock to their favorite local theaters to see the newest releases.

This weekend Mr. Peabody & Sherman took top honors at the box office in its second week with $21.2 million, according to THR. And coming in the No. 2 spot was the newly released 300: Rise of an Empire, starring Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, and Lena Headey, which grossed $19.1 million for a 10-day North American total of $78.3 million.

In the No.3 spot was video game turned big screen film Need for Speed, starring Aaron Paul which made $17.8 million. Rounding out the top five were Liam Neeson‘s thriller Non-Stop and Tyler Perry’s The Single Moms Club, which brought in $10.6 million and $8.3 million, respectively.

Blake Garrett Rosenthal Attends The ‘Mr. Peabody & Sherman’ Film Premiere In Cali

MOM star Blake Garrett Rosenthal attended the Mr. Peabody & Sherman film premiere last night at the Regency Village Theatre on Wednesday night (March 5) in Westwood, Calif. The movie is a Twentieth Century and DreamWorks animation masterpiece and features an amazing cast: Ty Burrell (Mr. Peabody), Max Charles (Sherman), Ariel Winter (Penny Peterson), Stephen Cobert (Paul Peterson), and Allison Janney (Mrs. Grunion). Blake kept it casual with a plaid shirt and blue denim jeans, but he took his look to the next level with a pair of sick lime green low-top sneakers. He was all smiles at the premiere as he posed for a picture with Mr. Peabody; quiet confidence is what I like to call it.

The premise of the movie: “Mr. Peabody, the most accomplished dog in the world, and his mischievous boy Sherman, use their time machine – The WABAC – to go on the most outrageous adventures known to man or dog. But when Sherman takes The WABAC out for a joyride to impress his friend Penny, they accidentally rip a hole in the universe, wreaking havoc on the most important events in world history. Before they forever alter the past, present and future, Mr. Peabody must come to their rescue, ultimately facing the most daunting challenge of any era: figuring out how to be a parent. Together, the time traveling trio will make their mark on history.”

The movie is set to hit theaters on Friday, March 7th.
