After Tragic Death Of Dog Floyd, Miley Cyrus Adds New Puppy To The Fam — Meet Moonie!

On Tuesday, Miley Cyrus got the absolutely heartbreaking news that her Alaskan Klee Kai, Floyd, had died back home in California while she was out on the road, bringing her Bangerz tour across the country. According to one of Miley’s dancers, Floyd was killed by a coyote.

Not only were Miley’s fans, friends, and family there for her once she’d shared the reason for the “2nd worst day of [her] life,” but her mom Trish made sure she had a four-legged cheer-up crew on board the tour right away, too: her dog Mary Jane and, this morning (April 4), a surprise — a new puppy Miley named Moonie!

We’re so glad Miley has some of her pups to keep her company and soothe her aching heart. Check out the pics of Miley and her pups — including the first full pic of Moonie — in the gallery below now:

Miley Cyrus Gets Emotional While Singing “Landslide” In Memory Of Dog Floyd — Watch The Touching Tribute Here!

Last night, Miley Cyrus shared the heartbreaking news that her nearly three year-old Alaskan Klee Kai, Floyd, had passed away. Although it’s been an extremely tough day for the 21 year-old, she’s still taking the stage tonight at the TD Garden for the Boston, MA stop on her Bangerz tour. She apologized in advance to fans who would be in attendance but has been making good on her promise to “try [her] best to be [her] best,” by still performing at her soundcheck party for VIP ticketholders.

It was during soundcheck that Miley took the time to pay tribute to her beloved canine companion: “It’s gonna be hard for me on this next song. I’m not sounding myself. I don’t feel myself. But I just wanna do one song,” she explained to the crowd, voice already wavering with emotion. “I’m sure you guys already know, but the reason that I’m so upset is my dog. I shouldn’t say he was my favorite, but he was my favorite. He passed away. I just wanna do a song for him. We used to always listen to Fleetwood Mac together. It’s his favorite song… so I wanna do this song for Floyd. This song is ‘Landslide’.”

You can watch the beautiful tribute in the video below now. Be sure to check out our gallery in memory of Floyd’s last year, too, and send Miley all your love and support — she definitely needs it right now!

Oh No! Miley Cyrus’s Dog Floyd Passes Away, Leaves Her “Broken” + “Miserable”

It’s with heavy hearts that we pass along that Miley Cyrus has reported her adorable Alaskan Klee Kai, Floyd, has died. While some remain reluctant to believe the shocking and unexpected news because it’s still April Fool’s Day in some places in the world, it’s nearly impossible to imagine Miley joking about something like this. She’s done plenty of shocking things on stage and off, but it can’t be denied she genuinely loves her dogs and treats them like part of her family.

Miley has had Floyd since July 2011, and he would have turned three (in people years, at least) in May. While Miley has not shared the cause of Floyd’s death, she has taken to Twitter to mourn with her fans who love her:

Although she’s heartbroken and there’s no news on whether the larger-than-life Floyd set piece will be included in the show, she still plans to perform at the Boston stop of her Bangerz tour at the TD Garden on Wednesday night (April 2). She did, however, send a message to her fans with an apology in advance if she doesn’t seem her usual, raucous self:

Despite this tragedy (which no doubt brought up the pain of the death of her dog Lila in December 2012, as well), Miley was still able to find a ray of light in the darkness when she opened her fortune cookie at P.F. Chang’s tonight, writing “sometimes pf changs knows exactly what you need to hear” with the following picture attached:

It definitely will, Miley! Join us in honoring Floyd’s memory and supporting Miley with the hashtag #RIPFloyd (which is now trending worldwide) and checking out our gallery of some of our favorite pics from the past year of this very special member of Miley’s family. From bedtime snuggle sessions to the “We Can’t Stop” music video, we’ll never forget you, Floyd!
