Singer Rebecca Juliet Releases New Single About Empowerment To Women!

February 23, 2015 by Laura Badmone

damsel

Rebecca Juliet is a 16-year-old New York City-based singer-songwriter who knew that she had two callings from the time she was very young: music and social service. She is an elite vocalist who has a wide vocal range, and can skillfully sing in a number of genres, ranging from opera to pop. Rebecca strongly believes in using her musical talents to help people in need and present positive messages. AXS.com notes that Rebecca Juliet is “out to change the world through her music”.

With the release of her second single “Damsel In Distress,” Rebecca presents a powerful message: young women can overcome many challenges, and do not need to be “rescued” to succeed in life. The song has a retro/pop feel with a modern, twenty-first century message about the empowerment of women. Rebecca hopes that “Damsel” will attract favorable popular attention, particularly among women. Bust Magazine is already calling it the “Feminist Pop Anthem” of 2015.

Rebecca will be donating all the net profits from the purchase of “Damsel In Distress” on iTunes and Amazon to “Girls Inc. of New York City” an organization that assists under-served 6 to 18-year old girls in New York City to realize their full academic, emotional, and physical health potential. As Pamela Maraldo, CEO of Girls Inc. of New York City said, “Girls Inc. of New York City is proud to partner with strong, smart, and bold girls like Rebecca who work hard and give back to their communities”.

Rebecca’s first single, “Angel On Our Shoulder” was released in 2013. Recently the national website AXS.com praised the song as “a  poignant, rousing, inspiring anthem that, at its climax, would rival even Celine Dion’s vocal brawn”. All profits from the purchase of that song are devoted to charities that benefit families directly impacted by the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, and help establish religious services for persons with special needs. Rebecca’s charitable partners and goals are discussed in detail on her website, www.rebeccajuliet.com.

The pins will be flying and the cards clicking when the 9th Annual Stars & Strikes Celebrity Bowling & Poker Tournament kicks off on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the PINZ Bowling Center in Studio City, CA. Proceeds from the star-studded event, which will end at 11 p.m., will support the important work of A Place Called Home (APCH), a safe haven of opportunity for under-served youth in South Los Angeles.

Tickets are on sale now for the all-ages high-energy benefit, which will feature 32 lanes of bowling action and a No-Limit All-In Texas Hold ’Em professional-level poker tournament. The latter has already attracted the participation of the Royal Flush Girls, noted professional female poker players.

The annual Stars & Strikes event raises funds and awareness for APCH, which supports inner-city youth and empowers them to take ownership of the quality and direction of their lives through programs in education, the arts, nutrition and fitness, as well as through college preparation and college scholarships. Over the past eight years, Stars & Strikes has raised more than $1,000,000 for APCH’s free programs.

“This is such an exciting event, and the funds we raise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of hundreds of young people at A Place Called Home,” said Jonathan Zeichner, executive director, A Place Called Home. “Participants are always welcome to visit APCH, get involved as volunteers and, in other ways, become part of the APCH family.”

APCH expects a number of celebrities from the entertainment and sports worlds to attend and participate in Stars & Strikes this year. To date, these include several LA Galaxy players and Eden xo, singer-songwriter and dancer. More VIPs will be confirmed as the event draws closer. KIIS-FM is a major sponsor of Stars & Strikes.

Previous years’ celebrity ambassadors and supporters include: Cee-Lo Green, music artist/producer; Miley Cyrus, actor/music artist; Pete Wentz, music artist; Ryan Tedder, music artist, OneRepublic/producer; Coldplay, music artist; Mark Wahlberg, actor/musician; Jonah Hill, actor; Howie Mandel, actor; Penny Marshall, director; Nick Cannon, music artist/actor/TV host; Keke Palmer, actor; Jason Derulo, music artist; Ariana Grande, music artist; Austin Mahone, music artist; The Wanted, music artist; Red One, producer; Dr. Luke, producer; Cody Simpson, music artist; Verne Troyer, actor; Scott Disick, reality TV star; Matthew Lillard, actor; “That 70’s Show” star Wilmer Valderama; Benji and Joel Madden, music artists; and, many others.

Singer KȆTA Teams Up With LymeLight Foundation & Stageit For Benefit Show!

November 25, 2014 by Laura Badmone

keta

Singer-songwriter KȆTA is teaming with the LymeLight Foundation and Stageit for a special benefit show that will stream live on Thursday, Dec.4th at 5pm PST. The concert will benefit the LymeLight Foundation, an organization that helps children and young adults with Lyme disease to receive proper treatment and medication, as well as raise awareness about the disease.

Fans can catch the show on Stageit (www.stageit.com), a live streaming platform that enables artists to deliver and monetize exclusive live performances while allowing fans to tune in and interact anywhere in the world from their mobile device or computer.

Raising funds and awareness for victims of Lyme disease is a cause near and dear to Kȇta’s heart. At age 10, a case of Lyme disease triggered a fast and drastic decline in her health. Misdiagnosed for a year, Kȇta entered an advanced stage of the disease and a challenging health crisis. “My life was all doctor’s appointments, tests, needles and experiments with different medications,” recalls Keta. “I remember lying in bed thinking that I needed to rethink my entire life and who I was going to be.” Thanks to successful treatments and her own determination to overcome her disease, Kȇta began her recovery at age 12, eventually fighting her way back to health. Born into a musical family—mom is a classically trained violinist and vocalist, dad plays guitar and both sisters are also singers— Kȇta’s drive to create songs played a huge role in the healing process. “It’s always been my passion,” she says. “I can’t imagine doing anything different with my life.”

“LymeLight Foundation is grateful that Keta will be sharing her talent and enthusiasm in support of our mission,” states LymeLight Foundation’s Development Director Phyllis Bedford. “We applaud her willingness to get involved. She will be an incredible encouragement to our grant recipients especially since she is close in age. By triumphing over Lyme disease and pursuing her dream, Kȇta will bring hopes of healing to those suffering. Kȇta’s music and lyrics will be in inspiration to all.”

Says Kȇta, “I am so excited to be a part of LymeLight! This fight against Lyme needs to be a group effort. We need to help each other press on and lift each other up as a community. I’m excited to take a stand by doing this amazing live charity concert and start doing my part in helping every way I can! This is super important to me and I feel more awareness needs to be brought to this illness.”

The December 4th show will see Kȇta performing songs from her new EP, Generation Call, a stunning atmospheric blend of softly curved melodies, lush electronics and honeyed vocals singing irresistible hooks. She’ll also be performing new song  “Wooden Horses,” which can be heard here: https://soundcloud.com/ketamusic/wooden-horses.

The EP follows a buzz-generating string of west coast dates held earlier this year, when Kȇta opened for fast-rising Capitol artist Sam Smith. The shows, her first-ever live performances, prompted Restless Cities to describe her as “quite a force” and Buzz Bands LA to compare her sound to the likes of Mumford & Sons and write, “if pop songs with thoughtful melodies, intricate banjo and stomping percussion is your thing, then you’ll most likely be hitting the repeat button after first listen.”

From a musical standpoint, Kȇta cites influences ranging from Elvis and the Supremes to Rachmaninoff and Fugazi. And her intensely inspiring mix of lyrical honesty and optimism makes her songs feel like a diary sneak peek. “My music is driven from things I’ve personally gone through. My goal is always to recognize the negative to bring out the positive. I believe that life is what you make it.”

Don’t miss your chance to catch Kȇta live on Stageit December 4th at 5pm PST.
