Katy Perry Gets Glammed Up For Performance At The White House – See The Pics Here!

US-POLITICS-SPECIAL OLYMPICS-PERRY

Pop singer Katy Perry looked all glammed up in a stunning full-lenght sequined blue gown as she made a guest appearance at the White House in Washington, D.C. on Thursday evening ( July 31, 2014). The star attended a dinner celebration honoring the 46th anniversary of the Special Olympics and its founder, Eunice Shriver. President Obama hosted Katy and she even gave a performance to the guests of her hit single “Roar.”

According to E! News, Obama made the following introduction:

“We have just one of my favorite people performing tonight—Katy Perry. We are so grateful to her. I love Katy Perry. She is just a wonderful person. I’ve just met her mom and now I know why she is such a wonderful person, but I just want everybody to know she is on tour right now and so for her to take time out to do this is really special, and so we really want to say thank you to her for doing this.”

Grace Happens Special Olympics Benefit Concert

July 12th @ 5pm | Wes Milford PAL | West Milford, NJ

New Jersey-based 12-year-old, Grace Nevin (Grace Happens), has been working with vocal coach/artist mentor Deborah “Zuke” Smith for several years. This Maple Road Elementary School 6th grader is not only a talented singer-songwriter, but also has a heart of gold. She has taken Zuke’s advice to use her talent to make the world a better place by combining her passion for singing with her love and respect for the West Milford Special Olympics Team. This weekend Grace will be putting on a special fundraiser event with all proceeds benefiting the team. She’ll be performing a 10-song set, including an original song, “I Found An Angel,” she wrote for her favorite Special Olympian and friend, Ben Weiss. Grace and Zuke teamed up with Mecurio-Nadel Music (Lee Nadel & Rich Mercurio – Lana Del Rey, Regina Spektor, Idina Menzel), Marc Ribler (Jethro Tull, Carole King), and Tabitha Fair to write and record the song.

Grace’s inspirational work is catching all sorts of attention, last week the Mayor bestowed a Proclamation of the Township of West Milford to Grace for all her hard work, claiming July 12th “as a day of recognition of the selfless contributions made by Grace to the West Milford Special Olympics Team”. Tomorrow morning (Wednesday, July 9th) Grace will be live on Good Morning America talking about her benefit concert and performing her original song!
